Re: Jimmy Hill - Hovis
Changed the game.
Seemed like a passionate top bloke.
Will be forever remembered as already said as a playground slang!

RiP Jimmy

He's been in a care home for a couple of years. Alzheimers. Can't communicate with anyone. Doesn't recognise his wife etc.

Loved the way he irritated the Scots
Started when he described David Narey's 1982 World Cup goal v Brazil as a toe poke.
Top stuff Jimmy

Re: Jimmy Hill - Hovis
They still sing;

"We hate Jimmy Hill, he's a poof, he's a poof" now.

Maybe they'll stop now.

Re: Jimmy Hill - Hovis
Hope MOTD do the decent thing and spend more time talking about him than Jose / Chelsea tonight.

Re: Jimmy Hill - Hovis
Jimmy was always a bumbling old man talking about football, and actually he did a decent job for the game.

R.I.P Jimmy Hill.

Did more positive things for the game of Association Football than people like Blatter, Platini and all those other parasites could ever hope to achieve,

Thanks, Jim.

Re: Jimmy Hill - Hovis
I used to see him play when I was a kid, as I lived near Fulham and Chelsea's grounds; a short ride on the district line. Tosh Chamberlain and Johny Haynes also played in that team. Most of the punters at Fulham in those days seemed to by off duty bus drivers, conducters or railway workers who spent the whole match moaning.

As a pundit he talked such a load of bollocks, but he wrote the almost Hamersteinesque lyric to Rule Brittania which went:

Good old Arsenal,
We're proud to say that name.
While we sing this song,
We'll win the game

RIP.
